Rohr Hands Turkish-Based Mikel Late Call Up, Provides Update On Ajayi & Etebo Pre-Serbia
Published: March 24, 2018
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Bursapsor midfielder Mikel Agu has been given a last-minute call up to link up with the Nigeria National Team ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Serbia in London.
Mikel was initially left out of the 28-man roster for the two friendlies in March, with Standard Liege's Uche Agbo selected ahead of the Porto loanee.
The German manager also revealed post-match that Al Ahly SC frontman Junior Ajayi will join the team in London for the friendly vs Serbia while Etebo's availability is not certain.
''We lost players through injury, we have other players who can arrive for our injured players especially Mikel Agu who will come. He plays in Turkey, same club with our captain today,'' Rohr said.
''Also Junior Ajayi will come from Egypt, he had a problem with his visa but he will come. So we have these players.
''Perhaps Etebo too, Etebo was injured, we are waiting for the report from the doctors. If he comes, it will be nice for us and we will be able to have a good match against Serbia.
''I want to thank officials of the Polish Federation for the warm welcome they gave us and for the very good atmosphere we had in our hotel and also in our training session.''
