Leon Balogun Reports Sick, Awaziem May Replace Him In Starting XI
Published: March 27, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria may make a last-minute change to the starting line-up already announced by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The reason is that the NFF confirmed the starting line-up first published by this website before the start of the customary team meeting this evening.
Defender Leon Balogun reported sick at the team meeting and Rohr has decided to replace him with Nantes defender Chidozie Awaziem, in the event that the Mainz star fails a late fitness test at the stadium.
The Porto loanee was not utilized off the bench in Nigeria's 1-0 win over Poland at the Municipal Stadium in Wrocław on Friday.
Since Awaziem made his international debut against Togo, the versatile defender has collected three caps for the national team, going the distance in each of the games.
He partnered William Troost-Ekong in central defense in the three games and will not look out of place if he is named in the starting line-up at the last minute.
As at the time of this report, the Super Eagles were on their way to the Hive Stadium.
