Manchester United Make Move For Highly-Rated Tottenham Nigerian Midfielder
Published: March 28, 2018
English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United have set the ball rolling in their bid to sign promising Nigerian midfielder Noni Madueke.
The Red Devils have included the Tottenham Hotspur starlet on their roster for the prestigious Mediterranean International Cup, a tournament in which the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Marcus Rashford and Nigeria's own Alex Iwobi previously starred.
Maduke is one of the three Nigerian players named in United's U16 squad, the others being Shola Shoretire and Ayodeji Sotona.
The fact that the 16-year-old is training with Manchester United suggests that he has not yet agreed terms with Tottenham Hotspur over a scholarship deal ahead of next season.
Last month, Spurs parted company with another promising Nigerian midfielder Moroyin Omolabi and the free agent has been linked with a possible move to Reading.
United U16s thrashed Spanish club FC Martinenc 4-0 in their first game of the MIC Cup, with Shola Shoretire among the scorers.
Madueke has represent England's Young Lions at U15 and U16 level.
