Ex-Tottenham Trainee Starts To Live Up To His Billing As The Nigerian Neymar
Published: April 09, 2018
Young Nigerian Porto winger Musa Yahaya who has been closely monitored by the club's head coach, Sérgio Conceição has continued his impressive contributions for the club's second team that compete in the Segunda Liga.
The 20-year old was named in the young Dragons starting XI for the 19th time by manager António Folha last weekend and the youngster repaid his faith with a well taken goal in the 2-1 win over Uniao Madeira at the Estádio Jorge Sampaio.
The attacker has garnered a total of 23 league outings to his name in the Portuguese second-tier this term and has scored three times.
Yahaya trained with Tottenham Hotspur after impressing for Nigeria's U17 side but was sold to Portugal's Portimonense to continue his development before Porto plunged for his signature after watching him in the division.
His outstanding performances for the clubs youth side has seen him train with the senior team on some occasions this season and he has already been tipped to follow in the footsteps of his fellow compatriots who have turned out for Porto in the Primeira Liga more recently — the likes of Chidozie Awaziem and Mikel Agu.
Dubbed the Nigerian Neymar mainly due to his silky skills, Yahaya was part of the talented Nigerian U17 side that won the World Cup tournament in United Arab Emirates in 2013.
