17-Year-Old Defender Among Four Nigerians Named In Man City Squad For USA Tour
Published: July 17, 2018
Manchester City have revealed their full squad for the tour of United States later this month, including four Nigerian youngsters in their list, the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Lukas Nmecha and Tom Dele-Bashiru as well the club's U-18 sensation, Nathanael Ogbeta.
A picture published on the Citizen's Twitter handle revealed that the aforementioned quartet are among the 28 players listed for their pre-season activities in the States, having been observed at close quarters by the club's manager, Josep Guardiola during training at the City Football Academy ahead of the new season.
While Adarabioyo, Nmecha and Dele-Bashiru have all made their first team debuts for the Etihad Stadium outfit, Ogbeta, a defender by trade, has yet to earn a place with the senior side but this could be a pointer that he is well in the plans of Guardiola for the upcoming campaign.
The 17-year old made ten appearances for the U18s in the UPL last term, scoring the winner for the Young Citizens in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Adarabioyo made his first-team debut in an FA Cup match against Chelsea in February 2016 while his compatriot, Nmecha made his professional debut for Manchester City in a League Cup clash vs Leicester City in December 2017, and took in three appearances for the first team last season.
