Liverpool Hoping To Seal New Deal For Awoniyi, Will Not Go On USA Tour
Published: July 17, 2018
According to Goal.com's Liverpool correspondent, Neil Jones, Liverpool are hoping to tie Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi down to a new deal before the end of this week.
In addition, suggestions that Awoniyi will travel with The Reds squad to the United States for the continuation of their pre-season preparations are wide of the mark as he is only making use of the facilities ahead of a loan move, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed.
The 20-year-old will be farmed out on loan for the fourth time in his Liverpool career as he is not yet eligible to be issued a work permit by the British authorities.
Since his celebrated transfer to the Anfield club in 2015, he has enjoyed loan spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC and Royal Excel Mouscron.
Last season was Awoniyi's most productive loan spell, having been directly involved in 17 goals from 31 matches for Royal Excel Mouscron but was unavailable for selection in the last eight games of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Liverpool are weighing up interest from Championship clubs for Nigerian winger Sheyi Ojo, though he is presently training with the first team.
