Liverpool beat Premier League counterparts, Manchester City 2-1 in their International Champions Cup game held at the MetLife Stadium on Thursday morning.
City's Nigerian striker, Lukas Nmecha made his second successive pre-season appearance for his side, starring from the off in New Jersey while his compatriots, Tosin Adarabioyo and Tom Dele-Bashiru were utilised off the bench by manager, Josep Guardiola — the latter equally playing a part for the second consecutive game the Citizens have contested in their pre-season activities.

Young defender, Nathanael Ogbeta will, however, have to wait further for his senior team debut as he was not summoned from the bench throughout the game.
On the other side, front man Dominic Solanke was one of the second half changes for the Merseyside Reds while winger, Sheyi Ojo remained unused.
Twelve minutes in, Nmecha had a chance to put City into the lead after linking up well with Riyad Mahrez but Loris Karius made a very good save to deny him his first senior goal.
Adarabioyo came on for Oleksandr Zinchenko after 62 minutes while marquee summer signing, Mahrez was replaced by Dele-Bashiru in the 74th minute of the game.
In the second period of the game, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored for Liverpool while Leroy Sane got his side's only goal.
Up next for Manchester City in the ICC tournament is a clash with German Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich while Liverpool take on league foes, Manchester United.
