U17 World Cup-Winning Midfielder Idowu Joins Omeruo At FK Palanga
Lithuanian top division club FK Palanga have snapped up former Golden Eaglets star Akinjide Idowu, the player has announced.

The central midfielder had been searching for a new club for more than a year following his departure from Moldovan club Speranța Nisporeni.

Idowu will link up with Lucky Omeruo, the brother of Chelsea and Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo, at FK Palanga, who were promoted to the topflight in 2017 after winning the I Lyga.

The 22-year-old Idowu began his professional career with Portland Timbers 2 in January 2016 and left the United Soccer League team in September 2016.

He started every single game contested by the Golden Eaglets at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup apart from the semifinal which he missed due to a yellow card suspension.

Idowu represented the Flying Eagles at the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand, featuring in matches against North Korea, Hungary and Germany.
