One-Time Most Expensive Teenager Babayaro Returns To Chelsea, Moses Advises Africa XI Stars
Published: September 13, 2018
Former Super Eagles left-back Celestine Babayaro will feature for Chelsea Legends in a friendly against an Africa XI on Friday, September 14, informs the official website of the Premier League side.
Some of Africa's best young footballers, who have come from Ghana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, arrived in London on Wednesday ahead of the friendly match.
The youngsters, who trialed this summer before their selection for the trip to the United Kingdom, received advice from three Chelsea stars Victor Moses, N'Golo Kante and David Luiz when they visited Cobham on Thursday.
Another former Chelsea player, ex-Ghana international Michael Essien will play for Chelsea Legends as well as Dennis Wise.
Now 39 years, Babayaro was the most expensive teenager signed by Chelsea
when he joined the club in 1997 from Anderlecht for a fee of £2.25
million, and spent eight years in London before transferring to
Newcastle United.
He was a half-time
substitute as Chelsea Legends were beaten 4-1 by Inter Forever in a
charity game staged at Stamford Bridge in May 2018.
