Super Eagles GK Rewarded For Skipping Liberia Friendly, Makes Full Competitive Debut For Elche
Published: September 13, 2018Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has reaped the reward for skipping what turned out to be an inconsequential friendly against Liberia on Tuesday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The teenage goalie has been handed his full debut by manager Pacheta for tonight's Copa del Rey clash against Granada at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.
Signed from Deportivo de La Coruña on a season-long loan, Uzoho was not listed by Elche for their Segunda Division games against Reus Deportiu and Osasuna before he reported for international duty.
The Nigerian linked up with Elche at their get-together in San Pedro del Pinatar ahead of today's meeting with Granada.
Against Seychelles last weekend, Uzoho did not concede for the fourth game in a Super Eagles shirt.
For the remainder of the season, the 19-year-old will play with the number 28 jersey at Elche.
Granada trail 1-0 heading into the break after Elche midfielder Jonathan ñíguez gave the home team the lead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute.
