Through a statement on their official website, Premier League side Chelsea have announced that versatile defender Ethan Ampadu has signed a new five-year contract with the club.
The Wales international has been rewarded with a new deal by the Stamford Bridge outfit after only seven appearances for the first team.
Commenting on the new deal, Ampadu stated : ''I’m really proud and happy. I’m looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen.''
The 18-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 from Exeter City and has represented the Stamford Bridge outfit in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
Born in Exeter, England, he was eligible to play for the senior national teams of England, Republic of Ireland and Ghana before making his competitive debut for the Welsh side in a UEFA Nations League tie vs Ireland this month.
Ethan Ampadu's father, Kwame, is the coach of Arsenal's U18 team.
