The Real Reason Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Was Omitted From Leganes Match Day Squad
Published: September 24, 2018
It has come to light that Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo was omitted from the CD Leganes squad that lost 1-0 to Eibar in the latest round of matches in La Liga simply because he didn't train with the team for most part of last week.
Prior to the meeting at Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa, the Nigeria international had made the 18 for the league matches with Real Madrid and Villarreal, though he didn't come off the bench.
Leganes manager, Mauricio Pellegrino has confirmed that Omeruo was absent because he had the club's permission to to travel to his homeland, Nigeria to solve bureaucratic matters.
The former Sunshine Stars defender has been inactive for his clubs since May 12, 2018 when he played the last 53 minutes of Kasimpasa's 3-1 win over Gençlerbirliği.
Omeruo has started each of Nigeria's last three competitive fixtures against Iceland, Argentina and Seychelles but skipped the exhibition match against Liberia about two weeks ago.
Leganes, who are the bottom team in the Spanish topflight, will train at the Butarque Sports facility on Monday evening starting from 1800 hours, ahead of Wednesday's meeting with Barcelona.
