Liverpool's Adekanye Showing A Lot Of Promise, Starts Against Chelsea After Injury Scare
Published: September 30, 2018
Bobby Adekanye started for Liverpool in their 3-1 win at Chelsea in the Premier League 2 on Saturday afternoon after suffering a knee injury from a heavy fall in the penultimate round of matches against Arsenal.
Having resumed full training few days before the trip to Aldershot, the Ibadan-born winger started and played for 73 minutes without suffering a relapse.
Liverpool started brightly against Chelsea, scoring through Rafael Camacho in the second minute, Virtue-Thick made it 2-0 in the midway point of the first half before bagging his brace on 69 minutes after Joshua Grant pulled a goal back just after the restart.
Injuries made it difficult for Adekanye to show his qualities in his maiden season with Liverpool's youth team but he's now living up to his promise and his appearance against Chelsea was his sixth start of the season from a possible seven compared to last season that he started only six matches in Premier League 2.
The 19-year-old has scored twice this season, against Tottenham Hotspur and PSG in the UEFA Youth League.
Chelsea midfielder Tariq Uwakwe made a five-minute cameo appearance against Liverpool.
