Super Falcons Coach Explains Why They Are Facing A Boys' Team In Friendly
Published: November 01, 2018Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby has explained why they are facing a boys' team as part of their preparations for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The African champions will take on Dominion Hotspur, a boys' team based in Lagos, in their first friendly match on Thursday.
It would be recalled that the Super Falcons lost 1-0 to Nigeria U15s boys' team in June before facing Gambia in the Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers.
''We are almost with a full house now and every player in camp have really been doing well,'' Dennerby said.
''We are determined as a team not to only impress in Ghana but also successfully defend our title.''
With eight titles from a possible ten, Nigeria are the most successful team in Africa Women Cup of Nations history and Dennerby is confident they can defend the title they won in 2016.
''We are almost with a full house now and every player in camp have really been doing well. We are determined as a team not to only impress in Ghana but also successfully defend our title,'' he said.
The Falcons are drawn to play South Africa, Kenya and Zambia in Group B of the 11th Women Africa Cup of Nations, with Cape Coast as venue, starting with an opening encounter against the Banyana Banyana on Sunday, 18th November.
