Samuel Kalu Named In Bordeaux Match Day Squad Despite Late Arrival From International Duty
Published: November 24, 2018Samuel Kalu has been named in Bordeaux match day squad for their Ligue 1 clash against Dijon at Stade Gaston-Gérard on Saturday evening.
The number ten was among the six attack-minded players in the traveling party to Dijon despite his late arrival to France after international duty with the Super Eagles.
Kalu missed training on Thursday morning without informing Bordeaux but later explained it was as a result of his long trip from Nigeria.
The 21-year-old has started two of Bordeaux' last three games in the league and it remains to be seen whether he'll make the starting lineup vs Dijon as he could be punished for his late arrival.
Predominantly a right winger, Kalu was deployed as a wing-back in Nigeria's 1-1 draw with South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last Saturday and came off the bench against Uganda three days later.
He has made 16 appearances for Bordeaux in all competitions, scoring one goal and logging 1,185 minutes.
