Nigeria U20s Target Sparkles As West Brom U18s Lose Eight-Goal Thriller
Published: January 13, 2019
Nigeria Football Federation target Yusuff Ojebode will be hailed for his performance despite West Brom suffering a 5-3 loss to Middlesbrough in the U18 Premier League on Saturday, January 12.
The winger had missed the start of the 2018-2019 campaign after suffering a grade three tear in his quad, which is a serious injury as he was not able to kick a football for several months but has now returned to full fitness.
Ojebode took six minutes to open the scoring against Boro and provided the assist for The Baggies third goal netted by Stanley Asomugha which gave the home team a 3-1 lead in the 34th minute.
Boro scored four goals without reply in the second half to secure a win in the thrilling game at Rockliffe Park.
Ojebode was in line to make a potential debut for the Flying Eagles last month in Lome but he was not permitted to travel to West Africa by West Brom higher-ups.
He was a key member of the West Brom squad that won the the Premier League U15 Floodlit Cup (South) in the 2015-2016 season.
