Official: Super Eagles Striker Okechukwu Returns To Wydad As Loan Deal Is Cancelled
Published: January 17, 2019Super Eagles striker Gabriel Okechukwu will no longer be joining Moroccan top flight club Rapide Club Oued Zem in the winter transfer market and this is official.
RC Oued Zem have announced that the loan deal for Okechukwu was cancelled at the last last minute by Wydad, as manager Faouzi Benzarti now wants to retain the player.
It is thought that the Wydad coach had a change of heart because they were unable to sign another striker before the close of the January transfer window in the country on Wednesday.
Since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, Okechukwu has managed to play only one game for the 2017 African champions.
The 23-year-old ended his association with Nigerian club Akwa United by penning a four-year deal with Wydad last August.
He has also played for Water FC, St.George's FC (Malta) and Karpaty (Ukraine).
