'He's Got The Quality You Need' - Mikel Receives High Praise From Boro Boss Again
Published: February 04, 2019Middlesbrough coach Tony Pulis has praised Nigeria captain Obi Mikel ahead of his side's trip to Newport County for an FA Cup fourth round replay on Tuesday, February 5.
The Chelsea legend has received rave reviews on the back of his performances against Newport County and West Brom in his first two starts despite being inactive for close to three months prior to his switch to Boro.
Mikel was deployed as a holding midfielder in Boro's come-from-behind 3-2 win against West Brom on Saturday and showed his defensive qualities with a game-high four tackles.
Speaking to reporters at Monday's press conference, Pulis stated : ''He was fantastic. He looked a little bit tired at the end but he’s a great lad, the lads have taken to him.
''He’s a great character in the dressing room and he’s got the quality you need.''

Obi Mikel won three FA Cups before ending his association with Chelsea in January 2017.
