Chelsea Nigerian Fans Turn On Kepa After Substitution Row In Carabao Cup Final
Published: February 24, 2019
Chelsea Nigerian fans made their anger at goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga clear after he refused to be substituted in the
loss on penalties to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Kepa appeared to have suffered a muscular complaint in extra-time and Maurizio Sarri wanted to replace him with substitute goalkeeper Willy Caballero but the Spain international showed a lack of respect as he opted not to leave the pitch.
Although Chelsea's record signing managed to save Leroy Sane's kick in the shootout, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City retained the Carabao Cup, with Jorginho and David Luiz not succeeding from the penalty spot.
Here's what Chelsea fans in Nigeria have been saying on Twitter :
@Rhaydioactive : ''Can they just sack Sarri and kepa?''
@simpson_fag : ''LOL! This guy was giving handshakes to all Chelsea players but snubbed Kepa''.
@IamTobbey : ''Kepa should be suspended for life.''
@B_JAYTON : ''This is the most disrepectful act I have seen in recent football shame on kepa!!!!''
@kaynecee : ''I think kepa messed up and that’s his last match for the season.''
@nnekeejike : ''Ami let him keep his "meant well to himself" the coach makes the calls. Even Company says he was happy Willy Caballero didn't come on for the penalties cos he knows hw good he is when it comes to penalties. Kepa shouldn't disrespect his manager no matter what''.
@SportPaparazzi1 : ''Insubordination in the part of Kepa Arrizabalaga, no matter the situation, you are answerable to your coach. Calberllero is good in penalties and it the coach decides to bring him in it shouldn't be an issue. I'm disappointed at his behaviour.''
ayokanmiii : ''Kepa spoilt all for him.., cos they didn't respect him obviously. That shows why they have not been following his tactical instructions.''
@jizle89 : ''Foolish Kepa mtcheeewwwww, I felt like slapping him''.
@AmaechiNwankwo4 : ''Kepa's behaviour has really shown how much influence players have on the modern game today going against managers.he was the stupid one to have acted it out publicly. It is only a true reflection of how the team feels (to undermine him) abt the manager.''
@_josh_obi : ''Sarri is obviously not in full control of this Team...Kepa also was so disrespectful...''.
@Idbragga : ''Becareful of people like KEPA in your life!!! They won't add value to your life, yet they'll want to stay in your life...''
@OlufemiAwoyemi : ''Kepa Arrizabalaga was unprofessional and will pay down the line in his career for this act....''
@3allo_FREY : ''Kepa was unnervingly arrogant''.
@Pattoochi : ''kepa_46 must be sanctioned for letting the club down. @ChelseaFC is bigger than you.''
@ChiomaPhi : ''Jorginho and Luiz missed their spot kicks, but let's blame Kepa because it fits the narratives of 'player power' and 'Chelsea in crisis'''.
@IamAfeez : ''Kepa really messed up! He should be kicking himself right now. What came over him sef''.
@Hez_mykel : ''Money and hype has destroyed the beautiful game called football. Kepa is a bad example, a real one. If I were Sarri, he will seat on that beach for as long as whenever''.
@__ayodeji : ''That kepa boy is a foolish boy''.
