Iwobi Receives Good Marks As Arsenal Set New Premier League Club Record
Published: April 02, 2019
Alex Iwobi played for about an hour on Monday night before he was substituted in place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 2-0 to leapfrog Tottenham Hotspur in third place at the top of the English Premier League table.
Arsenal set a new Premier League club record by winning their tenth consecutive home league match for the first time at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners' other victories came against Tottenham Hotspur, Huddersfield, Burnley, Fulham, Chelsea, Cardiff City, Southampton, Bournemouth and Manchester United.
The English media followed the game and in their characteristics revealed a carefully thought after ratings for the Nigerian and his teammates.
The Mirror awarded Iwobi who was a nominee for the Aiteo/NFF awards held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos Monday night a 7 out of 10.
"Iwobi 7 - Involved in some of Arsenal's slick, first-half moves with clever touches."
"LAM: Alex Iwobi – 5/10.
"He was a bit underwhelming for the Gunners tonight. Iwobi gave away the ball on quite a few occasions and struggled to make an impact inside the Magpies penalty box," was the rating of the Nigerian as the4thofficial.com.
Arsenalstation.com wrote:
"Iwobi 7/10 | Another lively display down the left and linked up well with Kolasinac at times. End product was frustrating at times though. Subbed."
90min.com handed Iwobi a 6/10 for his efforts albeit there was no quotes to accompany the ratings. The website however gave an overall, not individual assessments.
Iwobi and Arsenal's next Premier League fixture is Sunday's game against Everton.
