The Reason Why Ndidi Was Substituted At Half-time In Leicester City Win Vs Arsenal
Published: April 28, 2019
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that it was a tactical decision to substitute Wilfred Ndidi at half-time in his side's 3-0 win against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigeria international was in danger of receiving a red card if he had completed the game as he was shown a yellow card by referee Michael Oliver in the 13th minute after catching Granit Xhaka on the shin with his studs.
Seventeen minutes before half-time, The Foxes nearly took the lead but Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno made a brilliant save to keep out a a header from Ndidi.
''In the second half we wanted to be more aggressive, taking off Wilf (Wilfred Ndidi) who was on a yellow card, put an extra creative midfield player in and then putting Harvey [Barnes] wide,'' said Rodgers to Leicester City's official website.
''I thought in the second half we showed great fitness levels, great energy and scored all three very good goals.''
