Barcelona Striker Asisat Oshoala Could Enter Nigeria's History Books On May 18
Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala is in line to enter Nigeria's history books when her Spanish team face off with the holders Lyon in the final of the 2019 UEFA Women's Champions League on May 18, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

If the Spanish Primera División side win the showpiece at the Groupama Arena in Budapest, Oshoala would become the first Nigerian player to win the female version of the Champions League.

She is also targeting a place in Nigeria's history books as the first footballer to play in the UEFA Women's Champions League final.

Navina Omilade is the first player of Nigerian descent to win the Champions League, back in 2005 wearing the colors of Turbine Potsdam but she was a Germany international before hanging up her boots and she played in the final the following year but her team lost to Frankfurt.

Omilade was in the Wolfsburg side that beat Lyon 1-0 in the Champions League final staged at Stamford Bridge in May 2013.

Oshoala helped Barcelona to qualify for the final, making two appearances off the bench in their semifinal win against Bayern Munich after recovering from a hamstring complaint.

The ex-African Women's Footballer of the Year represented Liverpool in the Champions League four years ago.
