Nigeria Handed Big Boost Ahead AFCON As Key Winger Resumes Full Training At Bordeaux
Published: May 07, 2019Nigeria have been handed a big boost ahead of next month's Africa Cup of Nations with key winger Samuel Kalu resuming full training at French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.
Sud Ouest journalist, Thierry Vautrat, who watched Tuesday's training session, has reported that Kalu participated in full training.
Manager Gernot Rohr confirmed recently that the Super Eagles star was resuming full training this week and he has been proved right.
The Nigeria international, who also had personal problems following the kidnap of his mom, had been suffering from a hamstring complaint which had kept him on the sidelines since March 9.
The 21-year-old has been named in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and will report for international duty as from June 2 in Asaba.
Prior to his injury, Kalu made 30 appearances in all competitions for Bordeaux, scoring four goals.
