What Next For Arsenal's Nwakali After Another Loan Spell In Portugal?
Published: May 21, 2019
Chile 2015 U17 World Cup witnessed the rise of new talents across the world and at least three were produced by the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, who lifted the trophy for a record 5th time.
Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali were some of the best players of the tournament, and many clubs came knocking on their doors for a potential transfer deal.
The Gunners were keenly interested in the three players but they only completed their move for Kelechi Nwakali as Villarreal and Wolfsburg beat them to Chukwueze and Osimhen's signatures respectively.
Nwakali, a young man with great potential, was tipped as Mesut Ozil's replacement in the nearest future as result of his ability to dictate play from the middle of the pitch.
Unfortunately, the youngster's initial problem was his inability to get a work permit to feature for the Gunners, which forced him into going on different loan deals.
He was sent on his fourth consecutive loan spell at the start of this season, but this time to Porto B, with the hope of regaining his form.
Unfortunately, things were just like the previous ones as he failed to make any meaningful impact on the team despite playing 16 League games.
What Next For Nwakali, Will Arsenal Retain Him Beyond This Season?
The attacking midfielder still has an active contract with the North London club, and he hopes to get his paperwork this summer.
However, it remains unknown if the Gunners are willing to keep him for another season
Will he remain at Arsenal, will he finally get the green light to play for the Gunners during next season or will Unai Emery sanction his sale to any interested suitor? Only time will tell as we keep our fingers crossed.
