Omeruo Reacts To Appointment Of Former Defensive Partner Woodgate As Middlesbrough Coach
Former England international Jonathan Woodgate has been appointed as the new coach of Championship outfit Middlesbrough, agreeing a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2022.

A center back by trade, Woodgate had two different spells as a player with Boro and also captained the side before ending his playing career in 2016.

On loan from parent club Chelsea, Super Eagles star Kenneth Omeruo was Woodgate's central defensive partner during his time at the Riverside Stadium, and he has given a thumbs up to the appointment of the 39-year-old as Boro's manager.

''Best man for the Job.. I played with you and I could see how much love you have for this team.. congratulations to you @jonathanwoodgate39 best wishes.. UTB,'' Omeruo wrote on social media.

Omeruo played 36 games in all competitions during an 18-month loan spell at Boro and helped them qualify for the Championship playoffs in his first full season with the club.

Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel played for Boro in the second half of last season.
