Barcelona's Oshoala Sets Her Sights On Equaling 20-Year-Old Nigeria Record Vs France
Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala has set her sights on equaling a 20-year-old Nigerian record when the Super Falcons trade tackles with France in their final group game at the ongoing Women's World Cup, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Her wonder goal against South Korea on June 12 took her to two goals in the competition since debuting four years ago, and in doing so she became the second Nigerian player in history to score in two different World Cups.

Now, Oshoala is aiming to equal another record - being the third Nigerian player to score three goals at the Women's World Cup.

Currently on two goals along with Super Falcons greats Mercy Akide and Adaku Okoroafor, the former Liverpool and Arsenal star will match Nkiru Okosieme and Rita Nwadike's record of three goals which was set 20 years ago during the tournament in the United States, if she finds the net against The Blues.

All of Okosieme's goals were scored in USA 99, while Nwadike scored hers in two different tournaments.

Former Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa holds the absolute record for top Nigerian scorer in World Cup history with four goals, a record that is also in danger of being equaled by Oshoala if the Super Falcons go past the group stage.
