Two Events That Show Gernot Rohr Has Learned From World Cup ExperienceEverything is going fine for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt after picking up a spot in the round of 16 of the competition.

Though the three-time African champions are yet to record a convincing victory, Gernot Rohr has managed to come up with some unexpected decisions which played a major role in the success recorded so far.

Some of the unexpected decisions made so far were missing in last year's FIFA World Cup and it led to the team's early ouster from the competition.

1. Five Changes To Super Eagles Starting XI Vs Guinea

Rohr seemed to have learned from the World Cup experience as he uncharacteristically made five changes to his starting lineup against Guinea.

The manager, who is known for his conservative nature, surprisingly made five changes to the side that defeated Burundi in the first game.

Williams Troost-Ekong , Shehu Abdullahi, Mikel Obi, Samuel Chukwueze and Paul Onuachu were all replaced by the gaffer prior to Guinea's clash.

2. Unusual Mikel Obi's Substitution

Mikel appeared tired  during Nigeria's defeat to Argentina in Russia but the gaffer failed to replace him with one of the substitutes.

One year after, Rohr  has definitely learnt his lessons as he didn't think twice before replacing the former Chelsea midfielder in their victory over the Swallows of Burundi.

The 32-year-old was having a torrid time on the pitch and Rohr didn't hesitate to take him off for Ahmed Musa who changed the pace of the game.

As much as there are some aspects Rohr needs to work on, it will be unfair to ignore the fact that the gaffer has learnt from past mistakes.
