Mikel Misses Team Dinner,Training; Shehu Individual Session, Collins Trains With Group
Published: July 03, 2019
Three days to a blockbuster meeting with defending champions Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles players trained at the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
For the first fifteen minutes that the training was open to onlookers, Bursaspor defender Abdullahi Shehu trained apart from the group which suggests that he is doubtful to be in the team to face the Indomitable Lions.
Jamilu Collins is in contention to make his AFCON debut as he trained fully with the rest of the squad on Wednesday.
Manager Gernot Rohr did not want to risk him in the 2-0 loss to Madagascar earlier this week; the left-back took part in the pre-match warm-up just before the start of the game.
John Obi Mikel appears to have lost his race to be fit as he was missing from today today and skipped dinner with the squad on Tuesday evening.
Thursday's training session is completely closed while the final training session on Friday is open for the first fifteen minutes.
