Nwakali Trains With Arsenal First Team Stars Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette; Three Teenagers Of Nigerian Descent Make U23 Debuts
Published: July 07, 2019
Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles skipper Kelechi Nwakali was promoted to first team training by Arsenal manager Unai Emery on Saturday, July 6.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Skhodran Mustafi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny were among the first team stars that attended the training session at London Colney.
Despite training with the first team squad
yesterday, the talented Nigerian has no chance whatsoever of being
included in the squad for the Premier League because he has not been
issued a work permit.
Nwakali had been training with the Gunners U23s but was left out of the squad against Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon.
Three promising teenagers of Nigerian descent made their U23 debuts in the 3-3 draw against the National League side, including England U17 sensation Miguel Azeez, who was initially omitted from the provisional roster.
Azeez and Mazeed Ogungbo came off the bench in the 60th minute and Ryan Alebiosu played the last 18 minutes of the contest at Meadow Park.
Exciting winger Bukayo Saka was involved in first team training and didn't feature against Boreham Wood.
