Rohr Reacts To Incident Algeria Defender Used Zaha's Hand To Hit Himself In The Face
Published: July 13, 2019
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has played down the incident involving Ramy Bensebaini and Wilfried Zaha during the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal between Algeria and Ivory Coast on Thursday, July 11.
In a video circulating on social media, Bensebaini was seen slapping himself in the face with Zaha's hand before falling to the floor, clutching his head.
The Stade Rennais defender was already on a yellow card and could have been sent off for unsportsmanlike behavior if referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa reviewed the incident via VAR.
Questioned about the incident and what he wants referees and CAF to do about situations like that in Saturday's press conference, Rohr said : ''We didn't see that, we watched the tactical situations of the match together yesterday with our team and we will continue today to analyze the tactical things and not the kind of incidents you are speaking about.
''Each match you can find things that are not so nice but it's not interesting for us, what we have to see is how they are playing and what we can do to beat this team.''
