Chelsea Preparing To Loan Out Tomori With Premier League, Bundesliga Clubs Interested
Published: July 23, 2019
Chelsea are preparing to loan out Nigeria-eligible defender Fikayo Tomori before the close of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
The Evening Standard says The Blues plan to send Fikayo Tomori out on loan again this season after Kurt Zouma confirmed he is happy to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The England U21 star would struggle for game time if he remains at Chelsea as he is behind David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma in Frank Lampard's pecking order of central defenders.
Tomori previously spent time on loan at Hull City and Derby County in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons and played for Brighton & Hove in the second half of the 2016-2017 season.
He is attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League, German Bundesliga and Portuguese Primeira Liga but Burnley's proposed move for the player is unlikely to materialize.
Tomori has made only one appearance to date for Chelsea's first team which came against Leicester City on the final day of the 2015-16 season.
The Nigeria Football Federation target played the last 43 minutes of Chelsea's 2-1 win vs Barcelona in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.
