Dream Team VII Star Dennis Fires Club Brugge Into Champions League Group Stage
Published: August 28, 2019
Nigeria U23 international Emmanuel Dennis netted the winning goal as Club Brugge beat LASK 2-1 to qualify for the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League.
With 16 minutes remaining in the second leg tie staged at Jan Breydelstadion (Brugge), Klauss converted a penalty kick to cancel out Vanaken's goal in the 70th minute.
A 1-1 draw would have sent Club Brugge into the group stage draw on Thursday, August 29 but Dennis extinguished any hope of a comeback by the Austrian side when he slipped the ball into an empty net after a pass from Percy Tau in the 89th minute.
Summer signing David Okereke started on the left side of attack for Club Brugge but moved to a central position in the second half following the introduction of the Brighton & Hove loanee.
With two minutes to the end of the game, the former Spezia winger was replaced by Dennis.
Club Brugge have now qualified for the group stage of the Champions League on seven occasions and the third time in four years.
