Australia U17s Star Courtney-Perkins Explains Why Nigeria Will Be Nervous Of Facing Joeys
Published: November 01, 2019
Australia U17 defender Jordan Courtney-Perkins believes the Golden Eaglets will be nervous of facing the Joeys when both countries meet in their final Group B fixture at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup.
With back-to-back wins against Hungary and Ecuador, five-time world champions Nigeria are already through to the round of 16 and the Aussies are in danger of being eliminated as they have only one point from their first two games.
Trevor Morgan's boys produced a second half comeback to draw 2-2 with Hungary in their last match.
''It would be scary for any other team to look at that performance [against Hungary] and think ‘wow we’re versing Australia next’,'' Courtney-Perkins said to socceroos.com.au.
“It was good for us and Australian football to put on the performance we did.''
The Brisbane Roar defender continued: ''It’s been mixed emotions after [the first two] games, we’ve been pretty unlucky results wise but definitely after (the Hungary) performance we should definitely be excited for the Nigeria game.''
