Case Closed As England Beat Nigeria To Another Exciting Chelsea Talent
Published: November 17, 2019
England has finally beaten Nigeria to the services of young Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Tomori, 21 stepped off the bench in the 84th minute of the Three Lions 4-0 Euro Championships qualifier victory over Kosovo on Sunday evening, replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold and in the process earned his cap-tying appearance for Gareth Southgate's team.
The defender who earlier had caps at youth level for both England and Canada can no longer represent the Nigerian national teams, thus following in the footsteps of the likes of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ross Barkley and Dele Alli.
He was enjoying a banner season with the Blues in the topflight and that had prompted the football governing bodies of both countries to sit up and take notice.
Last month, the English Football Association yet won the race for another Anglo-Nigerian starlet in the shape of Abraham who made his competitive debut in a game versus Czech Republic and has added Tomori to its list.
