'Where Did Iheanacho Pull That From?' - Leicester City Star Surprises Ex-Arsenal Striker Nicholas
Published: December 04, 2019
Former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas has admitted that he was surprised after Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to net the winner for Leicester City against Everton on Sunday evening.
And the Sky Sports pundit has praised manager Brendan Rodgers for his smart substitution, bringing on the Nigeria international in the 62nd minute which proved to be a masterstroke.
The former Manchester City starlet set-up Jamie Vardy for the equaliser six minutes after he was substituted in before grabbing the game-winning goal in the 94th minute.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said : ''Where did Kelechi Iheanacho pull that from? When you mention Brendan Rodgers, he is a manager that makes players better.
''He's able to find something from players which you would not expect. Iheanacho is a decent player but he's a bag of nerves in front of goal.
''That only improves with confidence. It can eat away at you but Rodgers gave him confidence to perform.''
This season, Iheanacho has played in only three games for the Foxes, including two in the League Cup, and found the net in all the games.
