'I Like To Dribble Past People' - Skillful Heerenveen Star, Ejike Tells Rohr His Best Position
Published: December 05, 2019
SC Heerenveen star Chidera Ejike is one player Super Eagles fans want to see in the national team following his imperious displays in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The former Liverpool trialist was called up to the Nigeria squad for the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations but Heerenveen played spoilsport by refusing to release him to the Nigeria Football Federation.
Ejike has been decisive for Heerenveen, scoring six goals in fourteen appearances in the league while providing one assist, which has earned him rave reviews at home and abroad.
Ahead of a possible call-up to the Super Eagles in the near future, Ejike was asked where he thinks he can function best for the senior national team.
The Heerenveen number 8 replied : ''Actually I like to play as a left winger, a right-footed player but playing as a left winger.
''I feel like the best players like to showcase their qualities, I like to get on the ball a lot and dribble past people.
''And I feel like the best way to do it is for me to play on the sides, left wing to be precise, it's the best place I love to play even though I can manage to play other positions as well but the best position for me is playing as a left winger.
''I feel more comfortable, like I said I like to get on the ball, dribble, try to score some goals and also create chances for my teammates.
''For me, playing as a left winger is the best for me.''
