Nigeria-eligible striker Mipo Odubeko showed why he was highly coveted by several Premier League and foreign clubs before sealing a move to West Ham after netting his first hat-trick in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Republic of Ireland youth-teamer was involved in all but one of the goals as the young Hammers thrashed Southampton 5-0 at Staplewood Training Ground on game week 11.
It took just seven minutes for the visitors to take the lead thanks to Odebuko's goal.
The 17-year-old added his second two minutes after the restart, before setting up Simon-Swyer for the Hammers third goal on 50 minutes.
Six minutes to the end of the match, the Irish-Nigerian youngster got his third of the afternoon, taking his tally to 4 goals in four matches since transferring to West Ham late October.
The powerful center forward netted on his debuts for Manchester United and West Ham U18 teams in the U18 Premier League.
Odubeko showed his finishing ability last season, scoring 35 goals in all competitions for Manchester United youth teams.
Joshua Okocha (West Ham), Roland Idowu and Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo (both Southampton) were the other players of Nigerian descent that started today's game.
