''Iheanacho Is Obsessed To Score Goals Now' - Former APOTY On Leicester Striker's Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Published: December 16, 2019There was an incident involving Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho during the first half of Leicester City's 1-1 draw with Norwich City on Saturday.
With Canaries midfielder Emiliano Buendía having gone down in the 35th minute, the Nigeria international received a throw-in but instead of turning the ball over to the opposition in a fair-play act, he rather raced towards goal.
Former African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba has had his say on the incident and opined that the Foxes number 14 was wrong not to return the ball to the opponents in the spirit of fair play.
Speaking on SuperSport's Monday Night Football, Ikpeba said : "There is no rule, he has right to do that but I think we all celebrate fair play in world football, FIFA emphasizes on that.
"He could have been a gentleman to do that and it was wrong for him to continue to play especially understanding what actually happened.
"Iheanacho is back in-form, he's so obsessed to score goals now, so I can understand his thinking but you can see the reaction from the Norwich players, they were not happy about it.
"It is sad but for the coach to take him out I cannot really understand".
Yesterday's match against Norwich City was the first time Iheanacho failed to get on the scoresheet in the 2019-2020 season. However, he has played only five games.
