Super Eagles Star Makes Cameo As Watford Shock Manchester United
Published: December 22, 2019Watford boosted their survival hopes with a shock 2-0 victory against Manchester United at Vicarage Road Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Nigeria international Isaac Success made a rare appearance for the Hornets, hopping off the bench in the 87th minute as replacement for Ismaila Sarr.
It was only his fourth Premier League match of the season, having previously played as a substitute in games against Brighton & Hove, Newcastle United and Leicester City.
The former Granada man has been plagued by injuries yet again this season and when he's fit, he's behind Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, Gerard Deulofeu and Ismaïla Sarr in the pecking order of offensive players at Watford.
Sarr beat Manchester United goalie De Gea at the near post to open the scoring five minutes into the second half and the young Senegal striker also played a key role in his team's second goal as Deeney converted a spot-kick on 54 minutes after he was brought down in the box.
The result still leaves Watford bottom in the table with 12 points, but they have six points less than Southampton who are 17th.
Nigel Pearson's team will face Sheffield United and Aston Villa in their final two matches of 2019.
