Newcastle United In Talks To Bring In Former Everton Winger Of Nigerian Descent
Published: January 08, 2020Newcastle United are working on a deal to sign 2017 England U20 World Cup-winning winger of Nigerian descent Ademola Lookman, according to Sky Deutschland.
RB Leipzig signed Lookman from Everton last summer but he wants to move onto pastures new six months after due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
Assuming the move comes to fruition, the former Charlton Athletic wonderkid will spend the remainder of the 2019-2020 season on loan at the Magpies, with a subsequent purchase option inserted into the contract.
The 22-year-old cost RB Leipzig 18 million euros when he was acquired on a permanent basis in July 2019.
He has logged 200 minutes in all competitions so far this season - 131 in the German Bundesliga and 69 in the UEFA Champions League - making only two starts.
Lookman, who has four and a half years to run on his contract with RB Leipzig, is managed by Nigerian agent Emeka Obasi.
