Wolverhampton Wanderers' Nigerian Box-To-Box Midfielder Impresses Liverpool
Published: January 30, 2020
Liverpool were impressed by the performance of versatile Wolverhampton Wanderers box-to-box midfielder Owen Otasowie during the Premier League International Cup match between the two clubs on Wednesday.
The Reds qualified for the quarterfinals of the competition after fighting back from two goals down to earn a point at Molineux.
Wolves seemed to be in control of the game after goals from Bruno Jordao and Dadashov gave them a two-goal advantage, but Harvey and Elliot struck to level the tie for the visitors.
Otasowie held his own against the Liverpool strikers especially in the first half, and was one of the Wolves players singled out for special praise after the game.
In their match report, Liverpool wrote on their official website : "Wolves were very much a back five out of possession, marshalled by the impressive Owen Otasowie, and the Reds were struggling to break them down but they created some terrific chances in the last five minutes of the half."
The New York City born Otasowie is knocking on Wolves first team door, making matchday squads for Premier League matches against Sheffield United, Liverpool and Watford plus the goalless draw against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The 18-year-old has already played one first team game for Wolves, coming on as a substitute against Besiktas in the Europa League last month.
