Miguel Azeez Scores Brilliant Volley In Seven-Goal Thriller As Arsenal Advance To Quarterfinals Of FAYC
Published: February 06, 2020
Arsenal are through to the quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup after an entertaining 4-3 victory over Brighton & Hove at Meadow Park on Thursday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Gunners U18 starting line-up contained four players of Nigerian descent in Miguel Azeez, Mazeed Ogungbo, Daniel Oyegoke and Ryan Alebiosu, while Ayo Tanimowo started for the Seagulls.
Arsenal were 2-1 up at the interval, with Sam Greenwood netting a brace and Steff Vukoje getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.
Azeez restored Arsenal's one-goal advantage with a brilliant volley from close range on 65 minutes after Tolaj brought his side level four minutes into the second half.
The north London club scored a fourth goal after a goalkeeper error by Roco Rees, who dropped the ball over the line as he came to claim the ball, but a 79th minute goal by Tolaj after a clever pass from Tanimowo set up a nervy finale.
Arsenal, who were able to hold on to their slender lead, will face either Blackburn Rovers or Preston North End in the last eight.
