KV Oostende Ready To Open Contract Talks With Experienced Super Eagles Striker
Belgian First Division A side KV Oostende are ready to open contract talks with experienced Nigeria international Joseph Akpala.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, KV Oostende have decided not to trigger the one-year option on Akpala's contract but are hoping to extend his contract on lesser conditions.

The 33-year-old returned for a second spell at KV Oostende in November 2019, penning a short-term deal until June 30, 2020.

Since rejoining the West Flanders team, he has played seven games in all competitions due to a hamstring injury which he has fully recovered from.

Akpala previously had spells with RSC Charleroi, Club Brugge, Werder Bremen, Karabukspor and Faisaly, and wore the jerseys of Bendel United and Bendel Insurance in his homeland before moving abroad in 2006.

On the international scene, he is best known for scoring the winning goal for the Super Eagles in a prestige friendly against a France side containing Karim Benzema, Patrick Vieira, Patrice Evra, Nicolas Anelka and Franck Ribéry.
