Pinnick: Top Coaches Have Showed Interest In Super Eagles, Super Falcons Jobs; NFF Will Take Difficult Decisions
Published: April 13, 2020
Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick was live on Channels Television Monday morning and monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com where he talked about the contract update of Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, employment of a new Super Falcons coach and the impact of the Covid 19 global pandemic. Excerpts...
On what the NFF is doing during this window:
"It has been a time for us to reflect, redirect and refocus. Meditate and do what we believe is right. We have been chatting on our WhatsApp group and ideas are being shared."
On football being the same again globally after Covid 19 pandemic:
"There's been a massive loss globally from TV rights in major leagues of the world like England, Spain, Italy and so on. Players are taking pay cuts and so on.
"In Nigeria also we were meant to celebrate the 1999 set of the Super Falcons at our own NFF/AITEO awards. We are not sure when we can have that programme this year. Aiteo, one of our major sponsors is even affected by Oil prices slump. We will take some difficult decisions."
On employing new Super Falcons coach :
"We should have had that done already but for the situation we are in right now.
"There are lots of top coaches who applied and we are excited about that."
Rohr's Contract Update:
"It's day 7. We have always had wonderful relationship with him. The process is ongoing and the document has been sent to our external solicitors and it will come back to the NFF before we send it to him. I cannot mention the names of the very top coaches who have showed interest in the Eagles job."
