Heracles' Dessers Fears There Would Be An Asterisk Next To His Name If Season Is Not Finished
Published: April 14, 2020
With 15 goals from 26 appearances, Super Eagles hopeful Cyriel Dessers is the joint top scorer in the Dutch Eredivsie along with Feyenoord's Steven Berghuis.
The Eredivisie has been suspended, like most leagues in Europe, due to the coronavirus outbreak and Dessers fears there would be an asterisk next to his name as the top scorer for the 2019-2020 campaign if the league is not completed.
"If the competition would stop now, I would be a top scorer, I know. I would be a quiz question forever," Dessers told
Het Nieuwsblad via voetbalprimeur.

"But there would also be an asterisk forever after my name, because the season is not finished. That would be a shame."
Dessers further revealed that he didn't return to his country of birth, Belgium during the coronavirus crisis in order to limit the risk of his family contracting the virus.
Last month, Dessers saw his dream of making his international debut for
Nigeria against Sierra Leone go up in smoke due to the global scenario.
