Will Magee Sounds Out Coveted Super Eagles Striker Maja To Chelsea
Published: April 15, 2020
Football London's Will Magee has pointed out in-demand Super Eagles starlet, Josh Maja as one of the five strikers Frank Lampard and Chelsea should be looking at during the summer's transfer window.
Maja, 21 has hit the ground running with French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux this season, scoring eight goals and laying on another two in 24 games in all competitions so far.
Thus, he is already attracting suitors from the United Kingdom in recent weeks, with Scottish Premiership's Rangers and Premier League duo West Ham and Crystal Palace just a few who are willing to pit themselves in a bidding war for his signature.
Will believes Maja is one of the five players capable of providing another impressive option for Lampard upfront while a healthy competition will be made available for Tammy Abraham.
On the Nigerian, he wrote,
''There can't be many young players who've made the move from League One in England to a top European league and excelled almost immediately, but Maja fits that description.
His finishing this season has been superb. Maja's record of six league goals from 3.5 expected may appear like a massiveoverachievement, but his shot placement has made the chances actually worth 5.1 xG.
Only three players under the age of 23 have a higher post-shot expected goals per 90 average, and two of them are Kylian Mbappeand Gabriel Jesus. Pretty good company to be keeping, wouldn't you say?"
Prior to his move to France in January 2019, Maja had a prolific season with Sunderland in the English third tier, scoring 17 goals in all competitions for the club's senior side.
