'Worst Time To Make A Transfer In About 100 Years' - Heracles' Dessers On Potential Summer Exit
Published: April 23, 2020
Heracles Almelo star Cyriel Dessers has admitted that he does not know what the future holds for him after wining the Eredivisie top scorer award for the 2019-2020 season with 15 goals from 26 matches.
The next transfer window could be affected by the coronavirus pandemic as clubs are losing income due to the suspension of the leagues.
Dessers' target is to play for a club in the big five European Leagues, something which could have happened in January but Heracles refused to do business with Celta de Vigo.
Italian Serie A outfit SPAL were also sniffing around the striker in the winter transfer market.
"I think next summer is the worst time to make a transfer in about a hundred years. That is a strange feeling," Dessers said to TC Tubantia via Voetbal Primeur.
"The big clubs that were interested no longer have the budget to spend a lot on new players.
"I don't expect a bid or club like this to be the case last January, I cannot help but wait and that's fine. I'm not in control. Nobody saw this coming, life intervened".
Dessers has insisted that he does not regret choosing to remain at Heracles in January as it gave him the opportunity to achieve his dream of winning the top scorer award.
"There was an opportunity that I could not miss, but looking back there were fantastic moments in recent months.
"I would not have missed Ajax home. And I end up as a top scorer, I really like that," he concluded.
