Nantes Chief Confirms Simon's Purchase Option Will Be Triggered Despite Winger Not Meeting Target
Published: May 03, 2020
Moses Simon is set to extend his stay in France, with Nantes President Waldemar Kita confirming that they will activate the purchase option in the deal taking the winger to the club from Levante last summer.
The Canaries were under no obligation to trigger the purchase clause set at five million euros because the Nigeria international did not meet one of the targets, which is scoring ten goals in all competitions.
Simon also had to play a minimum of 25 games in all competitions before Nantes would be obligated to buy him permanently.
The Super Eagle, Nantes best paid player at €150,000 every month, had an excellent season, scoring 9 goals in 30 appearances with eight assists to go with it.
"We will exercise the option to buy. We will keep him. He is an excellent player, with a good mentality," Kita assured in an interview with Presse Ocean.
It has been suggested that Nantes intend to sell Simon this summer amid speculation linking him with Lyon, Rennes and an unnamed club in China.
