Premier League-Linked Striker Osimhen Compared To Ex-Man Utd Star By Former Coach
Published: June 04, 2020
Former Sporting Charleroi manager Felice Mazzù is of the opinion that Victor Osimhen has the same playing style as ex-Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mazzu took a gamble on Osimhen after he was declared surplus to requirements at Wolfsburg, and the youngster repaid his faith by ending the 2018-2019 season as the club's top scorer with 20 goals.
Several Premier League, La Liga and Italian clubs are pursuing the Nigeria international following a breakout season at Lille.
Asked who he would compare Osimhen to, Mazzu told TuttoNapoli : "He looks like Ibrahimovic because he can do everything with his feet and his head.
"But there is a big difference between the two: Victor is a simple person. But he will become a great striker."
Mazzu believes Osimhen is ready to make the big leap to a top European club, including Napoli, despite having ninety games under his belt as a professional.
"For me he is ready for any big European club. And then Napoli's mentality is identical to his. And I add: he already loves Neapolitan pizza," he added.
Osimhen has also emerged as a key player for the Super Eagles post-AFCON following the retirement of Odion Ighalo, and has scored four goals in his last four games for the national team.
