Nigeria U23 International Eligible For Ivory Coast Makes Debut For Dynamo Kiev
Published: June 07, 2020
Muyiwa Olabiran, otherwise known as Benito, has finally made his competitive debut for Dynamo Kiev, five months after his celebrated move to the Ukrainian Premier League powerhouse, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Nigeria U23 international, who was born in Ivory Coast and also eligible for the West African nation, played the last five minutes of Dynamo Kiev's 5-1 rout of Oleksandria in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Prior to his maiden appearance, Benito was an unused substitute in a league match against Shakhtar Donetsk last weekend.
The 21-year-old has found it difficult breaking into the starting lineup of the Kievites because he was lacking match fitness when he linked up with the squad and today's game was his first competitive match since September 2019.
The outcome of the game was all but decided when Benito entered the pitch, with Vitaliy Buyalskiy (2), Nazary Rusyn, Vitaliy Mykolenko and Carlos De Pena getting on the scoresheet for the home team.
After 25 rounds in the Premier League, Dynamo Kiev are second in the table with 49 points, same number of points as Zorya Luhansk who they face next on Saturday, June 13.
